There were 30 people total that traveled to Bonaire for the GR8 DIVN’s 30th anniversary to Captain Don's resort. The trip this year ran from August 4th - 11th 2018. Sunday morning began with the required briefing and then for the next 6 days we exercised the complete freedom of diving that only Bonaire offers. The itinerary for the next 6 days consisted of eating, diving, eating, diving, eating, diving and then sleep. Plus we threw in a few tours to mix it up. We had dinner at Mona Lisa’s and ice cream at GIOs. On Monday night we had a BBQ and a celebration presentation for the 30 years of taking groups to Captain Dons in Bonaire. The resort presented us with a wooden turtle (see the photos). Several of us took a Tweezy tour around the island in little Renault’s visiting 1000 steps, the national park area, flamingo park, Rincon and a cactus liquor distillery (with samples). It was a great time. .
Ed & Judy Hamilton reached their 500th dive and Bruce Floyd celebrated his 100th dive with GR8 DIVN. The trip was amazing as usual. The only hiccup came at the end of the trip which involved some flights being cancelled due to weather in other parts of the US.
