We had a GR8 group of 21 divers for two perfect days of divn aboard the Sand Dollar at Catalina Island. 11 divers from Las Vegas, Christine from New Orleans, Buster and Karren from Phoenix, our old friends Rick and Eric, Two Techies from New York and the Three Amigos from California.
Conditions could not have been better sunny sky, water was calm with gentle rollers, air temperature mid 70's during the day high 50's at night. Water conditions were just as good water temperature 66° to 63°, visibility 50 to 100 feet.
Dive Sites on Friday included Isthmus, Bird Rock, Eagle Reef for afternoon and night dive.On Saturday with the weather so good we made it to Farnsworth pinnacle! Farnsworth is home to blue coral the only species of cold water coral and generally only found in this region. Then on to Cape Cortez and finished at Eagle Rock. A good group of divers got in 4 to 5 dives on Friday and 4 on Saturday. We had a group of divers that were new to live aboard and cold water all had a good time on and off the boat. The kelp was gorgeous as usual and filled with life.
Hunting was just as GR8. Lobster Lobster Lobster bugs everywhere. The boat total was a least 20 bugs. You have to checkout Buster's Big Bug in the Photo Gallery along with more photos of the trip. The three Amigos brought back at least one or more sheepshead on every dive. Other hunting brought in kelp bass and scallops.
